You may catch glimpses of vibrant wildflowers, towering trees, and a variety of wildlife, including birds, butterflies, and perhaps even deer or other mammals.
  • Vista Views:The awe-inspiring vista that unfolds after the challenging hike provides a serene sanctuary, allowing hikers to immerse themselves in the tranquil embrace of nature and forge a deep connection with the surrounding environment.

DESCRIPTION

The Cataract Trail, a popular Marin County hike, offers a serene escape alongside Cataract Falls, with stunning scenery, cascading waterfalls, bubbling creeks, and beautiful forested trails. The falls, originating near the watershed and flowing into Alpine Lake, change with the seasons, from rushing waters and vibrant greenery in winter storms to colorful wildflowers in spring and summer. The shaded canyon and year-round sounds of running water provide a tranquil atmosphere, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  Note that wet weather can make the trail slippery and obstructed by fallen trees.
