DESCRIPTION

With unimaginable beauty, towering cliffs and scenic red rocks, you are sure to discover the amazing beauty of Sedona during your visit. From canyons, forests and mountains to creeks and wildlife, your hike is guaranteed to be memorable – a connection to nature, exhilarating adventures, deep relaxation, and the feeling of awe and wonder.  Enjoy the company of like-minded outdoor enthusiasts and build new lasting friendships!

Join the historical walking tour and learn the stories behind each cabin at Orchard Canyon on Oak Creek. Former owners, Gary and Mary Garland along with MaryLou Todd, granddaughter of original homesteader Frank Todd, share their family stories and the history of our seventeen cabins. On this tour, you will learn which cabins were originally forest service ranger cabins, why one cabin was better known as the “hobbit” cabin, and which cabin is home to furniture that was built on property and inspired by Sir Winston Churchill’s backyard. Also, on this tour, you’ll learn which famous orchard women the upper cabins are named after and why the orchard manager’s favorite cabin is Blackberry. It’s a pleasure to keep this history alive and hope that during your stay, you will create your own unforgettable memories to share with generations to come.

Day 2 | West Fork Trail

Trail Length: 7.2 miles Difficulty: Moderate

Description: There are a number of reasons why West Fork is one of the most popular trails on the Coconino National Forest. Once you’ve strolled beside the pleasant little stream that ripples along the canyon floor and looked up, way up, at the dizzying cliffs that tower above it, you will fall in love with it, too. West Fork is fantastic throughout the year. In springtime, migrating songbirds decorate the trees with flashes of brilliance. The trail itself, it’s an easy stroll, but you do have to cross the stream in a number of places. Usually, that involves negotiating a few strategically placed stepping stones or taking a couple of steps in shallow water.

3 | Devil’s Bridge and Cathedral Rock

  • Trail Length: 4.2 miles out-and-back
  • Difficulty: Moderate (if climbing to the top of the bridge)

Devil’s Bridge is one of the most popular hiking trails in Sedona. The trailhead is easy to reach, the path is easy, and the hike itself is fairly short. You’ll see the largest natural sandstone arch in the area and get amazing views of Sedona from the top!

The first part of this Sedona hiking trail is on a dirt road/wash for 0.75-miles, and the path is easy and wide. If you have a high-clearance 4-wheel drive vehicle, you can actually drive down this road and park closer to the bridge. The incline starts gradual but slowly gets steeper as you get closer to Devil’s Bridge. At the end of the trail, there are two viewing areas for Devil’s Bridge. The first is the lower viewpoint, where you can walk to the base of the sandstone arch to look up. The second requires a bit of an uphill climb on some sandstone stairs to arrive at the top of the bridge. The trail is short but steep, and the views from the top are worth it!
