Waterfall hike 2.0 miles out & back
The hike to the waterfall is a great option when we get to Tahoe as it is a gorgeous and scenic hike with breathtaking views of emerald bay, and distant snow-capped peaks. The impressive large rock outcroppings and autumn leaves add to the charm of the area. It’s a manageable hike with a picturesque creek and a waterfall at the end.
*Please bring packed lunch to enjoy on the top of the falls!
Day 2: Thursday, Oct 10th
Hiking at Spooner Lake and Monkey Rock

Hike: Loop lake hike
Distance: 2.2 miles out and back
The loop hike is a wonderful serene escape into a Van Gogh scene painted by Mother Nature. The lake is a tucked-away gem that’s just over the Nevada border. The reflection of the
surrounding trees on the glassy surface of the lake creates a mirrored kaleidoscope of autumnal shades. Spooner Lake is a MUST for viewing fall colors in North Lake Tahoe.
Hike: Monkey Rock
Distance: 2.5 miles out and back
The 2.6-mile round-trip trail to Monkey Rock is “moderate hike with some of the best views of Lake Tahoe and the snow-capped Sierra Nevada mountains in the backdrop.Whether you’re a seasoned hiker, a photography enthusiast, or looking for a peaceful escape amidst nature, Monkey Rock is a must-visit.
Day 3: Friday, Oct 11th

Activity: Tahoe’s Scenic Trail
Distance: 4 miles out and back
Welcome to the Tahoe East Shore Trail, a three-mile paved portion of the Tahoe Trail which will eventually in the near future, will go around all of Lake Tahoe. This flat easy trail navigates steep terrain, hugs the rugged Tahoe shoreline and numerous pathways lead to hidden coves. The trail showcases expansive Lake Tahoe views with large granite boulders and other geological wonders. There are interpretive panels along the trail to get you acquainted with historical information on the Washoe People, steamships, railroads, flumes and logging. The panels also highlight geology, Lake Tahoe facts, and all types of plants and animals from the area. Great way to learn about lake Tahoe! *Lunch along one of the scenic hidden coves.
Day 4: Saturday, Oct 12th
Hiking and Fall Foliage in Hope Valley

Hope Valley is a top location for fall foliage and is located about 25 minutes south of Lake Tahoe, the spectacular autumn hues can be seen right from the highway. This will make a perfect stop on our way home. We will enjoy and take in the fall colors from some of the best spots in Hope Valley.
Apple Hill, Placerville (on drive back home)
Fall time in Apple Hill is one of the most magical times of the year. Beautiful fall colors, hard cider, apple picking, and so much more await you in this picturesque mountain town. Apple Hill has over 50 farms and vendors to visit, so there is plenty of Fall fun to be had. Plan on picking apples, tasting cider and just enjoying the fun farm atmosphere!
