There will be opportunities to glimpse Native American Rock art and remains of their structures as we traverse the plateau to iconic vistas (~6.5 hrs, couple of miles walks)
Day 4| Capitol Reef National Park
As we travel from Moab to Torrey, we will make two stops, at Little Wild Horse Slot Canyon and then Goblin Valley. Little Wild Horse Canyon is found down a dirt road in the middle of nowhere, and comprises a 2.5 mile round trip hike culminating in a stunning narrow section that will be a highlight of the trip. Nearby Goblin Valley is full of the namesake Goblin rock, taking every shape imaginable and making for a very photogenic and whimsical playground of sandstone (1 mi).
Day 5 | Capitol Reef National Park
Activity: We will uncover an entirely new palette of white and pink rock layers in a departure from the red, brown, and orange hues of the Moab area. Capitol Reef’s cliffs are equally stunning and unique, with Mars and Moon like landscapes interspersed throughout. This park also features more Native American Rock Art and some very interesting pioneer era historical sites including cabins, barns, orchards, etc, with the beautiful Fremont river coursing right through the center.
